Christian Dieter Gassler

May 16, 1971  -  June 21, 2025

Born in Hollywood, raised in Cerritos, and lived with a spirit as big as his heart. He served in the United States Marines infantry as a Navy Corpsman. “Doc” would have laid down his life for his Marines.

After the military, he continued serving as a firefighter paramedic in the LA City Fire Department for 23 years. Those that knew him well called him “Gassman.” He loved the challenge, the brotherhood, and helping people who really needed him.

Christian’s greatest joy was being a family man —with his life partner Laura and the love of his life —his daughter Taylor. A tender loving “girl dad,” always taking time off to never miss any of Taylor’s soccer games. He was always there to cheer her on, and take her on road trips, beach days, and playing hide-and-seek. Laura and Taylor were his everything.

Funny, loyal, generous, and real! Christian loved his family, the ocean, tattoos, skateboarding, Venice Beach, and his dog Lucy —a stray he found while working in Watts. He had a heart for homeless veterans, and firefighters needing help when life brought its challenges —Christian never forgot who he was or where he came from.

Survived by Laura, Taylor, his mother Anna, brother Alex and wife Jill, and nephews Liam and Gavin.

Christian was proud to serve, protect, and LOVE.
